Frequently Asked Questions

What did you do to prepare?

Well for starters we bought an old Land Rover Defender and started to build our overland vehicle. We did a lot of research and probably did too much preparation.

How much does it cost to overland Africa?

Depending on your lifestyle, park fees, where you sleep etc. But in general between (USD) $50 / $150 per night or $1,500-$4,500 per month. Large costs are for instance border crossings (with visas, fees, import), park visits (expensive), fuel and car maintenance.

How about schooling for the kids?

Our children are young so we feel fine with home schooling during our trip. Before we started we had conversations with different educational professionals and came to the conclusion it was perfectly possible to provide similar playing education while on the road.

Do you need to work?

We do have to work when traveling for a long time, we have a good buffer and house costs are covered but still going to parcs can be very expensive and we do not want to leave out once in a live chances.
If the past few years proved anything, it is that you do not have to be at the office to do any work so we prepared our car on supporting us while on the road.
